Happy Winter and an Amazing Sight

We are "back" from our Thanksgiving travels...I saw the most amazing sight on early Friday morning...we spent Thanksgiving day at our "Lake Huron" home, I was awoken to an annoying screeching and screaming....(I sleep with the slider slightly open to hear the sounds of the waves)...went downstairs to make coffee and looked out at the lake and here sat this big Bald Eagle on a rock in the lake...next thing I saw was a second Bald Eagle swoop by and knock the Eagle off the rock into the water, the eagle jumped back on the rock, only to be knocked off again!  Then I saw another eagle fly in and land by an eagle at the shore....they were fighting over  a fish.....how I wish I had my camera with me...four Bald Eagles right in front of my house...amazing!

My card today is a fast one (I have too much to do today after being gone)...I used the retired set from SU "Happy Winter" and the SU Top Note Die!  I managed to get 4 more tags done with my scraps...until tomorrow!

A Cardinal Christmas~Crayola Pencils & OMS

My "friend" Curt (his blog is listed in my blog roll at the left) has the most amazing cards he has done with cheap color pencils and OMS......he did a tutorial last week o his blog of how he accomplishes this, so I thought why not give it a try!  This cardinal is my first attempt...granted not as amazing as his, but not bad I think for a first "try"!  I used Stampin'Up's! "A Cardinal Christmas" for this one  What do You think????

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I love Thanksgiving~it's one of my favorite family holidays...and here I am spending it alone with my hubby...we have a big family, too...5 grown children between us and 15 grandchildren!!    I made this apron with all that thanksgiving cooking in mind!   I kept it simple as I wanted the background to show as much as possible.  It's a great Holiday, time for family and friends to come together and enjoy company and conversation...it's always a "relaxing" day to me...I know there is all that cooking, but it is fun and not so involved as Christmas.  I have a small list below of 5 things I am thankful for...there's plenty more...but these are my favorites and in no particular order!
1.  I am thankful for my "family"...and that we are all healthy!
2.  I am thankful that my Mom whom is 82 is still here with us and is in sound mind and full of life!
3.  I am thankful for living in a country where we have choices and freedom!
4.  I am thankful for, and to all those that are serving our country to keep it free and to all those that have served before for the same goal..FREEDOM!
5.  I am thankful for a power high above that we can honor and pray to......Happy Thanksgiving!

Blue~Blue Christmas

Remember the Elvis song "I'm having a blue, blue Christmas??  This card reminds me of that with all the blue!!  My trees are stamped in Certainly Celery and Old Olive and then cut out...I added a chipboard glittered tree, a sentiment and ribbon, some DS paper..and I have a fast and very pretty card!!  The card took much less time then my scrap tags below...go figure!!

The stamp set I used for the trees, is a retired hostess set that Ijust love...it has so many uses for this time of the year..it is called Perfect Presentation...see you tomorrow!

Dasher

Can you believe its almost Thanksgiving?  It seems that time passes by so quickly.  We have snow predicted for tomorrow and Thanksgiving.....ugh...just NOT ready for that.....but each year in the first weekend of December, a town about 5 miles from here has a Christmas parade, we always go as we have had "royality" in it each year (not this year), but its a fun parade and it is always cold, snowing and freezing, and that is only a week and a half away...so I guess the snow holding off this long is a blessing!
My card for today was using mostly SU products...the dasher stamp...I just love that little reindeer...and the Baroque Motifs set...another favorite.....I was just in the mood for soft and pastel I guess.....gotta run...see you tomorrow!

PS:  I took "Nellie" to town with me yesterday...I think she was over excited and was just plain worn out.....I think it was the excitement of her "milkbone" from the bank!!

More Tags~&~A Mickey Mailbox

I have been so on the go this past week that I have had no time to "create"....I got up very early this morning and popped my new CC in my C and began cutting away......the new C is Very Merry Tags that I just found at a local store...........The cuts are very detailed...and the deer is so neat, as you get the actual deer to use on another tag or project like I did...........I added some Stickles to the tree tag for a bit of bling......these are just my first projects  with this cartridge and I am sure they can be "fancied" up alot more...but I was  so excited to get this and had to share my "first" creations!

It has a been a busy week with my two granddaughters.....Mariah went out for Miss Niles...she didn't place, but she looked so beautiful....heck its only her 2nd pageant...and she won a crown in the first one...so she is pleased with that.  My 15 year old granddaughter was selected Miss Teen Congeniality for Blossom Time 2009 and she gave her crown up on Sunday...wow...I was so proud seeing her walk across that stage several times...I hope to have photos of both girls on later!  Mariah had to make a box for Peoples Choice awards (you voted with money).... the theme was Mickey Dreams...it all began with a mouse...so with my C we made an awesome Mickey box.......have a nice day!

Believe In The Magic~&~A Little Silliness

Has been a week full of "drama" here....been doing my grandmotherly duties overtime.......more on that on Sunday!  I needed a "relaxing" card and had purchased 3 little boxes of various chipboard....this vintage St Nick  was in one...I have him very popped up on the card, but its hard to tell...don't you just love the old time St Nicks??  No time to stamp, thats when these chipboard pieces come in handy...hoping to have some downtime this weekend!

Yesterday I showed the "jammies" I purchased for "Jamo" with the fishing yellow duck....he is wearing the cutest hat.....and look what I found at Baby Gap......looks big.....but the boy has a big head.....its only 1 size bigger then it should be...he will be so cute in it!  Have a great day!

Cozy & Warm With A Cup of Cocoa

It's dreary~rainy~and cool today...a good day to stay in and keep dry and warm!  I am doing just that....have a cozy fire going and all I needed was a nice cup of cocoa, and here it is all soft and "steamie"...just the way I like ...whoops...forgot to add my little hat topper before I took the picture.
Sorry I have been away...my creative room was a mess...spent all day putting it back in order....I am sure it will be in chaos again....but its clean for today!  Have a nice afternoon!

A Vintage Christmas

Don't you just love the vintage colors and images...I can't get enough of them myself!  I actually went into my "creative room" about 3am (yes, that's my normal wake up time) to make the "brick" card that was featured on SCS....but I had purchased these boxes of vintage chipboard pieces and have them stacked up and ready to use...they just called out to me.....I just love this one of the children on the sled with the dog running beside them...brings back memories of my brother and I and our dog "Tag".....we used to sled down a hill that at the bottom hit the train tracks and we would fall off laughing.....Tag always rode the sled with us and would jump off before we hit the rails.....only once did we have a close encounter with a train...I won't "go there"...gee my "momma" would of locked us up had she known what we were up to!
I am really into "stitiching" on my cards lately....did both zigzag and straight stitching on this one.....my cardstock is retired SU...how I want some of those colors back!

The tags were made with scraps as usual...maybe not my best ones...but the kiddo's will like them!

Christmas Tree Farm~Saturday Spotlight Challenge

I woke up this morning at 3AM.....very usual for me......the first thing I saw was the big dipper and a sky full of stars.....it was so thrilling, as in our area stars are a rare site anymore....a good start to the day of Friday the 13th!
I usually try to do a few challenges a week...so many good ones and so hard to choose...but this week I choose Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential...you were to use the same image more then once on your card... I choose Stampin' Up!'s Loads of Love.....this was my very first SU stamp set I ever bought.....I was invited to a workshop and did not attend, bought about $100 worth of supplies (blindly I might add...like I bought a wheel...not knowing you had to purchase the handle separate...I now make sure if someone order's a wheel that they have a handle)....I stamped a "tree farm" so to speak...the inside of the card is decorated as well...  I added "snow" beneath the trees for a bit of the sparkle that I love so much....and I managed to get a few more tags done...see you tomorrow!

Home For Christmas and More Tags

It's a cold crisp morning here...perfect day to finish washing the outside windows....I'll be glad when that job is done!
I purchased "Home For Christmas" last year and just love all the details in this stamp!  My first card is rather plain and simple, with just a "pop" of color.....this is one of those cards you could make several of in a hurry!

The second card I added lots of color...though my "gold" hinges look yellow...and its a gold glitter pen I used...what's with that?....guess I need a NEW glitter pen!  On the tree I used SU Shimmery White paint...like the look of it...sort of 3D.

I also managed 2 more simple tags with scraps....so far so good!

A Few of My Favorite Things~Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes......

At the Flourishes blog  they are having a challenge called "A Few of My Favorite Things"....you were to design a card using one of the lyrics from the song

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

now I have to admit I struggled with this only because there were so many to choose from...this has to be one of the most fun challenges I have done in awhile!  I choose Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes....Santa has lots of sparkle...if you click on him you should be able to see it...I used a silver glitter pen to outline the cardstock and added glitter to the snowflakes.

....and then of course made a couple of "easy peazy" tags with my scraps....

Tis The Season To Glitter

A million things to do here at the cabin...and I am still making cards and tags.....but it's so much fun!  I showed you a few days ago my $1 reindeer stamp....here is another...the wreath really has alot of detail..most of which I covered up with my stickles.....I love a glitzy card......a very quick card.....the longest was waiting for the stickles to dry!  I managed to get a couple more tags out of the scraps...I am having a tag making day here in December...I did that last year and it was a huge success......the girls are begging for more....see you tomorrow!!

Winter Wonderland

Don't you just love how fresh fallen snow sparkles.....frosty~cold~sparkle.....I love it for a few months, then it can go away...luckily we only had a few snowflakes so far...but if it snows on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day....priceless!
I made this card with a long retired Stampin'Up! set called "Winter Wonderland".....added some "ice" Stickles on the trees and the ice........I used shimmery white CS from Stampin'Up! with my EB folder...and of course I couldn't "forget" my tags...made with scrap left...the image was one I wasn't happy with after it was stamped...perfect to cut apart for these tags...I am gaining on my tags!

Rudolph Never Looked So Good!

What can be better then a "harvest moon" or "Indian Summer".....we have had both...November in Michigan and its in the 60's...I am loving it.......I worked in the garden today...and no snakes...that was a blessing....I should be cleaning up the mess I made in the house......I emptied (almost) out my computer room...my hubby is gone until tomorrow...perfect time to make a mess...but guess what.....I haven't done one thing with it since...oh well.....
I went Christmas shopping today.....I ended  up buying for myself...that's the kind of shopping I like...lol....but I saw all these $1 stamps...how could I pass them up.....the reindeer is made with one.....notice the stitching  I did on the card...am loving that look....you might have to click on the card to see it.......after I do a card, I promised myself to use the scraps and make tags...I managed to get 2 done....that's two more then I had...right??  I have been into making BIG cards lately...not sure why...just a change I guess ...until tomorrow......

My Heart Goes Out

Nothing new to show today, somehow I can't get interested.....yesterday I saw where one of the blogs I follow her 3 year old passed away from a virus..kind of takes the heart out of wanting to do anything constructive.....my heart goes out to the family..I just can't imagine their lost.....there is a digital image you can purchase to help fund a tree at the zoo where Henry loved to go...you can find more about it here if you are interested in helping out.

Frosty Pines

The trees are bare~the morning air is crisp and clean~and the pines are "frosty"!  I am going to pick out my Christmas tree today.....perfect day for it....I take Nellie....shes loves to romp amongst the pines......after I find it, it is tagged and then ready to pick it up whenever I am ready for it, the tree farm will go and cut it for me, shake it, drill a hole in the base and put it in my stand for me, they wrap it, and when I get it home and in the cabin, all I have to do is cut the wrapping and viola'...I have a perfect straight tree.....gotta love it!
The card I have for today looks like alot of work, but the trees are scrapbook paper.....and I bet you thought I did all that glittering......the card is as instant as my real tree...somedays you need that!

Tinsel Town~Another OCC Challenge Card...think VINTAGE Style!

I had a bit of free time today and decided to do another "vintage" card for the OCC Challenge....it ends today at 6pm.....I know its hard to tell, but there is a "diamond brad" on the bow....and I know it doesn't look it...but this card actually took me awhile to create for some reason.  The ink I used is the new in color this year from SU....one of my favorites of the 6....but I have always loved the chocolate chip ink from SU and the "Soft Suede" works just as nice!  The background stamp is also SU, called "Medallion"

A Bit Vintage~Some Scraps~And Moon NOT Over Miami

One thing I love about the fall is when we get our "harvest Moon"..........oh how I wish I had a GOOD camera to take night photos...my hubby came in from getting pellets for our pellet stove and said "you gotta go outside and see the moon over Adam's ( Adam is my stepson...I have a son Adam, too)...so I grabbed "his" shoes and my coat and by the time I got out it had already moved, I had to cross the road and go into a soybean field to see it, but oh so worth it...wish I could show you better!

I was not even sure of what I wanted to do tonight, so put together this "vintage" card....I just love the ribbon and the birdie "nesting" on it!

The little tags were made from scraps left from the card....just a quick post...gotta get some sleep...see you tomorrow!

OCC Challenge Vintage Style

Nice cool~crisp morning...perfect time to to be in my "creative" room!  I was cruising around a few blogs early this am, and decided to do the  OCC challenge "vintage" style......a bit different from what I have been working on!  Our local scrapbook store had a "garage sale" of sorts a month back, and I got this HUGE packet of all vintage itemss in a big ziploc.....so this little thanksgiving repro piece comes from that....the ribbon flower, I gathered by hand, its some of SU's retired ribbon...love~love the sheer ribbons...I used distressed inks to ink all over my DS papers and the heart.........  had to set my card on my vintage turkey planter, it just seemed to "fit"............see you tomorrow!

Tag Your It!!

I have a project I am doing and need to have about 100 tags made, they have to be somewhat "simple" so here are my first five to get me going!  I love making tags, but I really like to pile on the "stuff", so these are a bit plain for me.....but I guess most people throw theirs tags away after use anyhow...ugh...I can hardly stand the thought of that!

All items with the exception of the ribbons used are Stampin'Up!  I'll be back with some of the others I put together in the next week (did I mention I need these 100 tags done before November 15th?)...yikes...how will I get that done??
